  2. We are excited to have a Featured Artist – Yuri Liberzon!
  3. The agenda also features Open Guitar Ensemble.

We are delighted to welcome Yuri Liberzon as our Featured Artist. Yuri is coming to Oregon from California and will be performing in Portland and Corvallis. His performance is free and open to the public here in Corvallis, donations are welcome, and he will be bringing his CD’s for people that want to continue listening to his wonderful guitar music.

Corvallis Guitar Society Monthly Meeting January 10th 2022

Our monthly meeting is providing everyone the opportunity to bring their guitars and play! We are going to focus on the Open Guitar Ensemble in which anyone is welcome to participate, and the Open Stage for anyone to play their own music featuring beginner, intermediate, and advanced.

7:30 – 7:35 pm Welcome

8:30 – 8:40 pm BREAK and Refreshments
8:45 – 9:30 pm Open Stage: beginners, intermediates, and advanced guitarists are all welcome to come and share their music with us.

Fourth Annual Guitar Festival November 12th & 13th at the Whiteside Theatre, Corvallis

We are delighted to announce the upcoming Guitar Festival on Friday November 12th and Saturday November 13th at the Whiteside Theatre, Corvallis.

The Saturday night concert features the amazing internationally recognized Korean guitarist Jiji Kim. Jiji will also be providing the Masterclass on Saturday morning, November 13th, at the Whiteside Theatre.

Applauded by the Calgary Herald as “…talented, sensitive…brilliant,” Jiji is an adventurous artist on both acoustic and electric guitar, playing an extensive range of music from traditional and contemporary classical music to free improvisation. Her impeccable musicianship combined with compelling stage presence and fascinating repertoire earned the Korean guitarist First Prize at the 2016 Concert Artists Guild International Competition. As a major highlight of her 2019-20 season, Jiji performed Hillary Purrington’s concerto Harp of Nerves at Zankel Hall of Carnegie Hall with the American Composers Orchestra and conductor George Menahan.

The Friday night concert features our wonderful local maestro, Cameron O’Connor.

Award-winning and acclaimed as “stunning and emotive” (Eugene Register-Guard), Cameron is a prizewinner in many international competitions, including the Frances Walton and Tokyo International Guitar Competition. His playing has been featured in films, including James Franco’s Don Quixote and Scott Tennant’s instructional classic Pumping Nylon, and his performances have been featured on Seattle’s Classical 98.1 KingFM. As a composer, O’Connor’s Three Northwestern Scenes was chosen for a performance at the 21st Century Guitar Conference in Ottawa, Canada, and these will be included in the Friday night concert!

Saturday, November 13th
10:00am – 12:00pm Masterclass with Saturday Night Concert Artist Jiji Kim
4 students, 30 mins each, Free and open to the public

7:00 – 9:30pm       Closing Concert featuring nationally famous guitarist Jiji Kim

All of our festival events will also be made available to watch online for those who prefer not to attend an indoor event or are unable to make it to the Whiteside Theatre on those dates.
