October & November 2018: Corvallis Guitar Society Newsletter

THE NEXT GUITAR SOCIETY MEETING IS MONDAY November 5th 7-9PM

Venue: Odd Fellows Hall, Corvallis

Free & Open to the Public

Dear Guitar Friends,

November the 5th is Bonfire Night (courtesy of Guy Fawkes) and the explosive celebration we have planned here in Corvallis at the Guitar Society meeting will feature fine classical guitarist Wenjun Qi!

Dr. Qi is a versatile classical guitarist and Director of the Guitar Program at Southern Oregon University. Wenjun received her Doctorate of Musical Arts degree from the University Of Southern California Thornton School of Music. In her solo guitar performance, she embraces different genres such as jazz, electronic, and rock in addition to traditional classical guitar composition. Wenjun is an enthusiastic guitarist who has performed in concerts on both sides of the Pacific Ocean including New York, Los Angeles, Seattle, Medford, Ashland, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Zhengzhou, Xi’an and Fuzhou.

The November 5th meeting will also continue the Open Guitar Ensemble where EVERYONE is welcome to bring their guitar and join in. The ensemble music is already posted to the website: https://corvallisguitarsociety.org/ensemble-music-2018-society-meeting/ – download the scores and decide which parts you might like to play, print them out and bring to the meeting. The goal of the Open Ensemble is to perform at the first Winter Guitar Concert which will take place at the Corvallis-Benton County Library on Saturday December 15th. It’s okay if you choose not to be in the concert – still bring your guitar to the Society meeting and join in!
