Bringing Local Guitarists Out of the Woodwork

  • We have Brandon Azbill coming as featured artist at the Guitar Society monthly meeting on May 2nd.
  • And we have Cameron O’Connor’s OSU Ensemble as featured artists on the Guitar Society monthly meeting June 6th.
  • Berto Boyd is performing a solo guitar show at the Old World Deli, Corvallis this Friday April 22nd from 7 to 9 PM, Free Admission
  • Savannah Fuentes, Flamenco Dancer performing with Diego Amador Jr. singer & guitarist, at Whiteside Theater, Tuesday April 26th, 7pm.

Featured Artist Brandon Azbill
Brandon Azbill is an award-winning classical guitarist, teacher & composer.

In Spring of 2021, Brandon completed a Master of Science in Music with an emphasis on somatic education for guitarists (Body Mapping) at Portland State University and in 2019 he completed a Bachelor of Music in Classical Guitar Performance at PSU. Some of his most influential teacher’s include Jesse McCann, Cameron O’Connor, Rich Hurdle, and Bryan Johanson. Brandon actively shares his passion for music with others through education and performance of many musical styles.

We are also going to have the Open Guitar Ensemble in which anyone is welcome to participate, and the Open Stage for anyone to play their own music featuring beginner, intermediate, and advanced.

At this point, masks are no longer required at the monthly meetings.

8:05 – 8:35 pm Open Stage: beginners, intermediates, and advanced guitarists are all welcome to come and share their music with us.
8:35 – 8:45 pm BREAK and Refreshments
8:45 – 9:30 pm Brandon Azbill Featured Artist

The pieces for guitar ensemble by Andrew Forrest and Lou Warde are free, and open to the public, and the scores/parts are available here on the website (see above). When you look at the pieces, decide which part(s) you wish to play, and let Isaac Engel know so he can ensure all the parts are covered: [email protected] , Then bring the music with you to the Guitar Society meeting.

Berto Boyd Solo Guitar Show at the Old World Deli, Corvallis
Our Artistic Director Berto Boyd is doing a concert this week. He is a wonderful flamenco guitarist, and is a great classical musician, and will be performing from 7pm to 9pm.

Diego Amador Jr. is a virtuoso Guitarist and Singer from Seville where he was born into a family considered “Flamenco royalty.”

Savannah Fuentes, is a stunning dancer born in Seattle to parents of Puerto Rican and Irish ancestry. Berto caught their performance in Portland recently and gave them rave reviews!
