    Our next monthly meeting is on Monday, April 4th, 7:30 – 9:30pm
    Venue: Odd Fellows Hall, 223 SW 2nd St, Corvallis
    Free & Open to the Public

    At this point, masks are no longer required at the monthly meetings.

    New Information!
    Isaac Engel has joined the Board of the Corvallis Guitar Society!
    We have Featured Artists planned for each of the next three Monthly Meetings.
    Ryan Walsh is our Featured Artist on the monthly meeting Monday, April 4th, (see details below).
    We have Brandon Azbill coming as featured artist on the monthly meeting on May 2nd.
    And we have Cameron O’Connor’s OSU Ensemble as featured artists on the monthly meeting June 6th .

    8:10 – 8:35 pm Open Stage: beginners, intermediates, and advanced guitarists are all welcome to come and share their music with us.

    8:45 – 9:30 pm Ryan Walsh Featured Artist

    Featured Artist Ryan Walsh
    After his graduation at the University of Oregon, Ryan decided to follow the call of his passion and went to Spain, the birthplace of the guitar. He met up with Ricardo Gallen, one of the world’s greatest, living classical guitarist, and this set him upon a path that led to Seville’s renowned Conservatorio Superior, and the unsurpassed tutelage of Paco Cantón.

    His repertoire is exceptionally wide and varied, and includes Spanish and South American composers, such as Albéniz, Tárrega, Granados, Sor, Villa-Lobos, Barrios, and Lauro, also more contemporary composers such as Roland Dyens and Leo Brouwer. Other notable composers include, J.S. Bach, Scarlatti, Eric Satie, Johann Mertz, Joaquin Malats, Stanley Meyers, Mozart, Aguado, and several of his own pieces!     We are also going to have the Open Guitar Ensemble in which anyone is welcome to participate, and the Open Stage for anyone to play their own music featuring beginner, intermediate, and advanced.

    When you look at the pieces, decide which part you wish to play, let Isaac know as soon as you can, and bring the music with you to the Guitar Society meeting.

    Bringing Local Guitarists Out of the Woodwork

    Our next monthly meeting will be on Monday, March 7th, 7:30 – 9:30pm

    Our monthly meeting is providing everyone the opportunity to bring their guitars and play! We are going to focus on the Open Guitar Ensemble in which anyone is welcome to participate, and the Open Stage for anyone to play their own music featuring beginner, intermediate, and advanced.

    At this point, given Covid 19, we do need to wear masks at the monthly meetings.

    Music for Flutes, Violin, Guitar, and Cello

    This concert takes place at the FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH (in the sanctuary), Monroe Avenue & 9th/8th Street, right next to Central Park.

    One of the most exciting groups on Chicago’s musical
    scene, FANDANGO! is a toe-tappingly spicy mix of
    Latin, Spanish, and classical sounds founded by four
    multi-award-winning, globe-trotting virtuosi who hail
    from Spain, the USA, former Yugoslavia, and the UK,
    and who have played, separately and together, on the
    world’s most prestigious stages. FANDANGO! made
    its Washington DC début on the illustrious Dumbarton
    Oaks series, has appeared at Roosevelt University’s
    Ganz Hall in Chicago, the Bermuda International
    Festival, and has toured nearly every region of the
    USA. Their diverse program features works and
    arrangements for this unique ensemble of flute, violin,
    guitar, and cello, from the traditional “classical”
    sounds of Antonio Vivaldi and Joseph Haydn to
    Spanish and South American inspired tunes by
    Maurice Ravel, Manuel de Falla, and Ástor Piazzolla,
    among others.
