  • Our next Guitar Society Meeting is on Monday October 2nd, 2023 (first Monday of the month) at Odd Fellows Hall and will begin at 7:15 pm
  • David Tutmark is our Featured Artists for the October 2nd – David began a successful performance career, has done hundreds of them including international guitar duo, performing in Chile, Mexico, Italy, and across the United States, and he is the professor of classical guitar at Clackamas Community College in Oregon City.
  • Isaac Engel will be running the Ensemble Session; the music scores are available (see below) and any one of you will be delighted to join in and play.
  • The Open Stage is an opportunity for anyone to play classical guitar music – beginners, intermediate, and advanced!
  • The After School Guitar Program is continuing group lessons and private lessons at Odd Fellows on Monday October 2nd at 6:00pm run by Isaac Engel.
  • The second After School Guitar Program is on Monday October 16th at 6:00pm run by Jacob Ripley, and he also provides The Community Beginning Lesson for people of all ages from 7:00pm to 7:30pm at Odd Fellows.
  • In addition, Cameron O’Conner is running the Guitar Ensemble Class sessions on Wednesdays starting on September 27th at 6pm at OSU Community Hall 204. This is freely available for any of you interested in participating in the Ensemble event at our upcoming Festival on the 10th and 11th of November!   • Our Festival is set up for Friday and Saturday November 10th and 11th at First Congregational United Church of Christ, SW West Hills, Corvallis and will feature two individual Concerts, and two Ensembles, Master-Classes, Workshops, Lectures, and Facilities. Featured Artist David Tutmark

Guitarist David Tutmark maintains a busy schedule in the Pacific Northwest as well as performing abroad. After earning a Bachelor’s degree in classical guitar performance from PSU, David began a successful performance career, giving over 400 concerts between 2012–2020. David has toured extensively as a soloist as well as a member of the international guitar duo, performing in Chile, Mexico, Italy, and across the United States. In 2018 he did an extensive solo tour of Chile as part of the Entrecuerdas guitar festival. In 2019 David was a featured artist at the international concert series in Lima, Peru “Cuerdas al Aire” He has also performed for the US consulate in Pakistan as well at Pakistan’s premier music festival Lahooti Melo, for an audience of 20,000. David is also on faculty at Clackamas Community College in Oregon City Oregon where he is the professor of classical guitar. Whether for audiences large or small, David is known for his visceral yet polished style of playing, and consistently delivers captivating performances of traditional and contemporary classical guitar.

Open Guitar Ensemble
Isaac Engle is running the Open Guitar Ensemble in which anyone is welcome to participate. When you look at the pieces, decide which part you wish to play, and maybe let Isaac Engel know ahead of time – his email is [email protected], and bring the music with you to the Guitar Society meeting.

After School Guitar Program & Community Beginning Lesson

Jacob Ripley and Isaac Engel are continuing the After School Guitar Program free and open to the public. Focusing on mid and high school students, the goal is to raise their awareness and understanding of the guitar instrument by featuring group lessons, private lessons and ensemble music.

Jacob also provides Community Beginning Lesson for people of all ages, so anyone can come for this lesson.

Feel free to come along and meet up with Zoe and Isaac at their sessions if you are interested, and if you don’t have a guitar, we can lend you one!

Upcoming Corvallis Guitar Society Events 2023

Thank you everyone for coming, playing, and enjoying the events so far this year. After our activities in June, we will be taking a break as usual in July and August from Odd Fellows, Corvallis.

However, in addition this year, Isaac Engel has established two Classical Guitar Society events, one in July and one in August in Salem to continue providing Guitar Ensemble Sessions, and Open Stage.

You are invited in July and August to enjoy the Classical Guitar Social, a community gathering of classical guitarists in Salem from surrounding areas.

Event Friday July 14th – This will be a focused playing session, with an ensemble piece, a break for snacks, open stage, and finishing with some time for visiting. Here’s the schedule for one hour:

Event Friday August 18th -This will be an extended session (two hours) to allow a composition lab to occur as part of the meeting. Anyone is invited to bring an original guitar or guitar ensemble composition to this session to be read and performed! The session will begin with an ensemble piece. The break and snacks time will be extended to 30 or 40 minutes of time for interested players to select new scores to learn and perform in the open stage portion.

Corvallis Guitar Society Monthly Events in Corvallis Re-Start in September
After two months off, our first monthly meeting will start up at Odd Fellows on Monday September 11th, 2022, beginning at 7:15pm. That will feature our Guitar Ensemble session, Open Stage, and a Featured Artist performance.

The first After School Guitar Program at Odd Fellows will re-open on Monday September 11th at 6:00pm run by Isaac Engel.

The second After School Guitar Program will be on Monday September 18th at 6:00pm run by Zoe Moulton, and she provides The Community Beginning Lesson for people of all ages from 7:00pm to 7:30pm at Odd Fellows.

Festival in November 2023
We will be having a two-day Festival on November 10th and 11th with two Concerts, Ensemble, Masterclasses, and free open Workshop Sessions.
The location is First Congregational United Church of Christ, and the timing for visitors will be:
Friday November 10th 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm
Saturday November 11th 10:00 am – 9:00 pm
Details will be provided in August.

  • Our next Guitar Society Meeting is on Monday June 5th, 2 2023 (first Monday of the month) at Odd Fellows Hall and will begin at 7:15 pm
  • The OSU Guitar Ensemble led by Cameron O’Connor are our great Featured Artists for June 5th who will be performing both as a full ensemble, and as smaller breakout groups starting at 8:15pm and playing for one hour!
  • Isaac Engel will be running the Ensemble Session; the music scores are available (see below) and any one of you are delighted to join in and play.
  • The Open Stage is an opportunity for anyone to play classical guitar music – beginners, intermediate, and advanced!
  • The After School Guitar Program is continuing group lessons and private lessons at Odd Fellows on Monday June 5th at 6:00pm run by Isaac Engel.
  • The second After School Guitar Program is on Monday June 19th at 6:00pm run by Zoe Moulton, and she is now also providing The Community Beginning Lesson for people of all ages from 7:00pm to 7:30pm at Odd Fellows.

Featured Artist OSU Guitar Ensemble

Cameron O’Connor leads the OSU Guitar Ensemble in a wide variety of music for their June concert, with repertoire ranging from the Romantic era to Japanese film soundtrack to The Beatles! OSU will be featuring performances by the 24-person group and smaller breakout ensembles which will provide a full hour of music. Come prepared to be amazed by the versatility of this illustrious group of musicians.
