    Bringing Local Guitarists Out of the Woodwork

    Summary

    • Our next Guitar Society Meeting is on Monday April 1st, 2024 (first Monday of the month) at Odd Fellows Hall and will begin at 7:15 pm; free and open to the public.
    • Craig Einhorn is our Featured Artist for April 1st – Classical Guitarist, Composer, Song Writer, Recording Artist. 😊
    • Isaac Engel will be running the Ensemble Session; the music scores are available (see below) and any one of you will be delighted to join in and play.
    • The Open Stage is an opportunity for anyone to play classical guitar music – beginners, intermediate, and advanced!
    • The After School Guitar Program is going to take place on Monday April 1st at 6:00pm run by Isaac Engel.
    • The second After School Guitar Program is on Monday April 15th at 6:00pm run by Jacob Ripley, and he also provides The Community Beginning Lesson for people of all ages from 7:00pm to 7:30pm at Odd Fellow.

    Featured Artist Craig Einhorn

    Craig will be performing Spanish works including Sevilla, Zambra Granadina and Mallorca, and also play Tango and Milonga.
    In Corvallis at OSU there’s a Tango dance scene and Isabel, the lady at OSU, teaches Tango dancing. She and her partner are very excited to provide dancing to a Tango and a Milonga with Craig at the Guitar Society event on April 1st.  Isabel is familiar with Odd Fellows Hall and has taught Tango classes in that room!

    Isaac Engel is running the Open Guitar Ensemble in which anyone is welcome to participate.

    The Open Stage at the Corvallis Guitar Society monthly meeting is available for anyone to play their own music featuring beginner, intermediate, and advanced. So, bring your guitar and plan on performing a piece 😊

    After School Guitar Program & Community Beginning Lesson

    Jacob Ripley and Isaac Engel are continuing the After School Guitar Program free and open to the public. Focusing on mid and high school students, the goal is to raise their awareness and understanding of the guitar instrument by featuring group lessons, private lessons and ensemble music.

    Jacob also provides Community Beginning Lesson for people of all ages, so anyone can come for this lesson.

    Feel free to come along and meet up with Jacob and Isaac at their sessions if you are interested, and if you don’t have a guitar, we can lend you one!

    Featured Artist Aaron Larget-Caplan

    Acclaimed international recording and touring guitarist and composer Aaron Larget-Caplan is an exciting and innovative leader in classical music. Noted as a “master guitarist” by Fanfare and for his “astounding technical proficiency and artistic delicacy” by the Boston Musical Intelligencer, Larget-Caplan has performed throughout the USA Europe, Russia, and Taiwan, including El Palacio de Linares in Madrid, Spain, Sheremetev Palace in Russia, and Palazzo del Te & Ducale in Mantova, Italy.

    Cinzia Milani Performing at OSU on Friday March 15th 6:00 pm

    Cinzia Milani began studying classical guitar at a very young age and after private studies, graduated from the Conservatorio “A Boito” in Parma at the age of 18. When Cinzia Milani was only 5 years old she won the international competition of Milan. Also, at the age of 7 she was awarded the “Ambrogino d’oro” by the Municipality of Milan for her extraordinary and precocious musical ability and at the age of 10 she won the “Trofeo Beniamino Gigli” in Recanati, was marked 100/100 points!
    Cinzia has also performed as a guitarist, dancer and singer in the Argentinian show called “Sonatango” and later recorded a CD with the same name. Also she recorded the CD “Guitar”, Amadeus Label, Italian music by Castelnuovo-Tedesco, Margola, Domeniconi, Prandi, and also pieces wrote for her by the composers Cacciola and Betta. She has performed around Canada and the United States and she has taught guitar masterclasses at Royal Conservatory of Toronto.

    Since sparking a musical partnership in 1998 at the University of California, San Diego, Colin McAllister and Derek Keller have performed across the United States and Mexico, presenting eclectic programs original compositions as well as their own arrangements of pieces from the sixteenth to the twenty-first centuries. They have been featured on notable concerts series, such as the SoundOn Festival of Modern Music (San Diego, CA), the Festival of New American Music (Sacramento, CA), Festival Hispanoamericano de la Guitarra (Tijuana, MX), and San Francisco sfSound, among many others.

    Featured Artist Travis Johnson

    Travis Johnson

    Born and raised in the Pacific Northwest, Travis studied acoustic and fingerstyle guitar from a young age. He performed with local and regional orchestras, competed regionally and nationally, and recorded his first album by the time he was 13.
    With a generous scholarship from the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation, he holds Bachelor of Music Performance degree with Honors in Musicianship from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, and a Master of Music Performance degree from The University of Texas at Austin.
    Since 2017, Travis has been teaching music lessons back home in Portland, Oregon. In 2021, he started to design and build an instrument support device that is now the AUX Instrument Support. Between his teaching practice and his new business, Travis enjoys songwriting, composing, and playing music with his friends.

      After School Guitar Program & Community Beginning Lesson

      Jacob Ripley and Isaac Engel are continuing the After School Guitar Program free and open to the public. Focusing on mid and high school students, the goal is to raise their awareness and understanding of the guitar instrument by featuring group lessons, private lessons and ensemble music.

      Jacob also provides Community Beginning Lesson for people of all ages, so anyone can come for this lesson.

      Feel free to come along and meet up with Jacob and Isaac at their sessions if you are interested, and if you don’t have a guitar, we can lend you one!

      Times are as follows:
      Second Monday of the month at Odd Fellows Hall
      6:00pm to 7:00pm is the After School Guitar Program (group lesson and ensemble)
      Third Monday of the Month at Odd Fellows Hall
      6:00pm to 6:50pm is the After School Guitar Program group lesson
      7:00pm to 7:30pm is the Community Beginning group lesson
      Entrance to all the above events is open to the public (donations gratefully received).
      Location: Odd Fellows Hall, 223 SW 2nd St, Corvallis, OR 97333. The entrance door is between New Morning Bakery and Sedlaks Boots and Shoes.
