Dr. Cameron O’Connor runs the guitar program at OSU and we are very lucky to have Cameron, a truly great classical guitarist and composer, to perform concerts for us in this neck of the woods. He is a prizewinner in many international competitions, including the Frances Walton and Tokyo International Guitar Competition and continues to receive awards for performances and compositions in an ongoing basis. His playing has been featured in films, including James Franco’s Don Quixote and Scott Tennant’s instructional classic Pumping Nylon, and his performances have been featured on Seattle’s Classical 98.1 KingFM, Portland All-Classical, American Public Media’s Performance Today, and KPFK’s Global Village.
For this Winter Concert he has a wonderful program lined up for us to enjoy as follows:
Prelude from Lute Suite no. 4 (J.S. Bach)
So Long (Cameron O’Connor)
Elsa and Ortrud’s Duet from Lohengrin (Richard Wagner)
Fantasia in D (Fernando Sor)
Rain in the Old Growth Forest
Perturbation Variations (Cameron O’Connor)
Capricho Arabe (Francisco Tarrega)
Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence (Ryuichi Sakamoto)
Sevilla (Isaac Albeniz)
