Summary
- Our next Guitar Society Meeting is on Monday September 9th , 2024 (second Monday of the month) at Odd Fellows Hall and will begin at 7:15 pm; free and open to the public.
- John Paul ShieldsΒ is our Featured Artist manager in September, and is coming all the way from Spokane. π
- Isaac Engle will be running the Ensemble Session; the music scores are available (see below) and any one of you will be delighted to join in and play. And all three pieces are provided by Andrew Forrest. π
- The Open Stage is an opportunity for anyone to play classical guitar music β beginners, intermediate, and advanced!
- The After School Guitar Program is not taking place in September, and will return and start performing in October by Isaac Engel, and Jacob Ripley.

Featured Artist John Paul Shields Guitar Performer
John Paul Shields is a guitar performer, composer, and instructor with over 20 years of professional experience, currently based in Spokane, WA. A graduate of the University of Washington in classical guitar, with a masters in guitar performance from the University of Idaho, John Paul has performed worldwide in a colorful array of settings, from public festivals in Peru to Seattleβs esteemed Nordstrom Recital Hall at Benaroya, to live on radio and television. A passionate musician dedicated to the lifelong pursuit of learning, John Paul has played as both soloist and in ensembles, in projects ranging from classical music, Peruvian folk music, to even rock, pop and jazz.

Isaac Engel is running the Open Guitar Ensemble in which anyone is welcome to participate.

Open Stage
The Open Stage at the Corvallis Guitar Society monthly meeting is available for anyone to play their own music featuring beginner, intermediate, and advanced. So, bring your guitar and plan on performing a piece π
Guitar Teaching Lessons
The Guitar Program Lessons are not taking place in September, and will return and start performing in October this month by Isaac Engel, and Jacob Ripley.
The After School Guitar Program free and open to the public. Focusing on mid and high school students, the goal is to raise their awareness and understanding of the guitar instrument by featuring group lessons, private lessons and ensemble music.
Jacob also provides Community Beginning Lesson for people of all ages, so anyone can come for this lesson.

The First Monday on October 7th at Odd Fellows Hall β Isaac Engel
6:00pm to 7:00pm is the After School Guitar Program (group lesson and ensemble)
The Third Monday on October 21st at Odd Fellows Hall β Jacob Ripley
7:00 β 8:30pm is the After School Guitar Program group lesson & the Community Beginning group lesson. Entrance to the above events is free and open to the public (donations gratefully received). Location:Odd Fellows Hall, 223 SW 2nd St, Corvallis, OR 97333. The entrance door is between New Morning Bakery and Sedlaks Boots and Shoes.
