Upcoming Guitar Society Meeting, Monday October 3rd
The next Guitar Society meeting will be on Monday October 3rd. It will take place as usual on the third floor of Gracewinds Music, Downtown Corvallis (please use rear entrance). I am delighted to welcome classical guitarist Scott Kritzer from Portland as our featured artist for the evening. Scott is an internationally recognized and critically acclaimed guitarist with a long concert career including performances at Carnegie Hall and the renowned Wigmore Hall in London. This is a great opportunity to hear, talk to, and learn from a true professional with a rich career. Don’t miss it!

We will begin the meeting with a group ensemble session in which everyone is invited to participate. The ensemble will include beginner to intermediate level music – don’t feel like you need to be an expert, just bring your guitar along and join in; the only objective is to have some fun trying to play some music together! The scores will be posted to the website a week ahead of time so feel free to download it and decide what part(s) you wish to play.
The ensemble session will be followed by an open stage session where everyone is invited to get on stage and share some music with us. All ages and ability levels are welcome.

Jazz Guitar and Ukulele Workshop & Concert
There are two workshops coming up in Corvallis in September:
Firstly a jazz workshop on Wednesday September 14th at 7:30pm will take place at The Fingerboard Extension on 2nd St. featuring jazz guitarist David Becker. David will be doing an educational workshop on Heritage Jazz guitars. This event is free.
Secondly, Hawaiian Ukulele master Kimo Hussey will conduct a Ukulele workshop on Saturday 24th between 2:00pm and 6:00pm and a concert on Sunday 25th September at 4pm. Both events will be at the Corvallis Friends Meeting House, 3311 Polk Ave. These events will feature Ukuleles made by Corvallis Luthier Pat Megowan. The workshop costs $60 and the concert $40. ROGUE PERFORMANCE HALL: 130 East 8th Street, Building C, MedfordDive into a four-day exploration of guitar techniques, as seven virtuoso teachers lead students in studies of flamenco, Hawaiian slack key, bluegrass flat pick, classical, jazz, blues and rock. Each day will have two 90-minute sessions, each focusing on one genre and one jam session to explore what you learned with your fellow participants. Beginning and Intermediate tracks are available, as well as an All Access Pass, which allows participants to choose classes from either track each day. Also included for all participants is a special class on basic instrument maintenance and repairs, as well as a full faculty panel discussion.

Jamie Stillway – Featured Artist for May Meeting
I am pleased to announce Jamie Stillway will be our featured artist for the Guitar Society meeting which will take place as usual on the first Monday of May, May 2nd from 7:00pm to 9pm at the Lesson Loft at Gracewinds music on 3rd street downtown (please use the rear entrance).
Jamie is an accomplished finger-style guitarist now living in Portland. She is in demand both as a performer and instructor and has received some great reviews:
