George England‘s Workshop – Settling a Score: Study Essentials for Intermediate Guitarists
Approaching a new piece can be an exciting, confusing, daunting, or stressful endeavor. Guitarists who have worked hard on their reading abilities may want to jump right into a work and make fast progress. This workshop demonstrates methods for utilizing that energy to study a score alongside regular practice.
By synthesizing simple approaches to harmonic and melodic analysis, phrasing, overarching structure, and the intentions of the composer, this workshop provides intermediate guitarists with tools and resources to develop their own individual approach to thoroughly learning a new piece.
Bring your guitar and have fun in this interactive, low-pressure workshop aimed at guitar society and community members. Simple classical and modern etudes and concert pieces will be introduced, along with excellent tips & tricks to help demystify the process of learning a new work.
Beginning through advanced students are welcome to participate and/or audit at their comfort level.

Acoustic Blues Fingerstyle Guitar Workshop with Adam Scramstad
This class is focused on fingerstyle right hand rhythm techniques that are commonly used in more advanced acoustic blues. Starting with some Travis style alternate bass picking & melody, then a few mono-tonic bass and lead improv concepts. I’ll share some chord forms & inversions that work well for both styles, this will help provide a foundation for combined rhythm and melodic improvisation. We’ll keep the progressions a little more grounded so we can showcase ways to mix it up with inversions and single note lead ideas. We’ll begin with a few basic examples, then rapidly move into intermediate to more advanced playing techniques and ideas to challenge you.
